Alarm Detection Systems’ VP Ed Bonifas Elected President of CSAA

Ed Bonifas, Vice President, Alarm Detection Systems, Inc. was recently appointed to a two-year term as President of the Central Station Alarm Association. The official commencement took place at the 2009 CSAA Annual Meeting in Athens, Greece.
The Central Station Alarm Association is the international association representing security companies, alarm monitoring systems, services, and products.
Bonifas has been a fixture in the alarm industry for over 30 years. While still in high school, he started working for the family-owned ADS, founded by his father. Viewed as an expert in the field by his peers, Bonifas is looking forward to the appointment.
“I think that we are going to be able to face the challenges of the next couple of years head-on,” Bonifas said. “The people involved with CSAA are all at the top of their field, and I am surrounded by knowledgeable, well-versed security professionals.”
Bonifas has been a CSAA board member for a number of years, chairing several committees during his tenure. His expertise in the security field has made him a sought-after speaker at various industry conferences as well as numerous life-safety and public-safety forums.
He is also a member of the American Society of Industrial Security, the National Fire Protection Association, Building Officials and Code Administrators International. He sits as a member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Supervising Station Fire Alarm Systems.
In addition to industry-based organizations, Bonifas has played a very active part in community organizations. He has been a member of the Aurora Rotary Club for nearly 30 years, and has previously served as president. Bonifas was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Governing Board of Rush-Copley Medical Center, and serves on the Board of Directors at Old Second National Bancorp. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors of Aurora Area Crime Stoppers, serving as president for many years, and currently as treasurer. He also serves as the Board Chairman of the Aurora Economic Development Commission.
Bonifas accepts his new role with confidence. “I have been a part of the ever-shifting landscape of the security world for my entire life. I have learned how to adapt as new technologies take hold. We’re in a great place to be able to seize new innovations and develop even better solutions for our customers.”
