The Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Aurora Veteran’s Advisory Council, recognized employers and organizations that have developed and applied best practices for addressing the employment challenges faced by America’s veterans and transitioning service members.
We were honored to be one of the companies recognized with the Veteran’s Award. Alarm Detection Systems is one of the largest employers in Aurora and we have hired veterans since the founding of our enterprise. We currently employ 21 former military members in key positions throughout our company including Inspections Manager Sam Negron, a former Marine. Bill Waitek, one of ADS’s most successful salespeople annually, served in in the Vietnam Conflict. Lead Systems Designer Bert Wickham was in the Air Force during Operation Desert Storm.
As a company we understand the value of military experience and factor it into our hiring efforts and overall business goals. In addition to employing service members, we offer discount programs for active military and veterans. A good portion of our charitable efforts goes into helping local veterans, whether donating time and technology to veteran’s housing in Aurora or supporting annual fundraising.
he Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce (ARCC) operates in both the city of Aurora and North Aurora, Illinois. The Chamber has four main divisions: economic development, community development, member services, and business advocacy. Within these divisions exist 390 programs and services. The US Chamber of Commerce has awarded the ARCC with a five-star distinction.
Less than one percent of the nearly 7,000 chambers operating in the US can claim this honor.
